    Many of the best jobs and our ability to compete in a global marketplace are linked to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields. Workers in STEM earn on average 26 percent more than their non-STEM counterparts. Moreover, job openings in STEM occupations outnumber unemployed workers by nearly 2 to 1.
