Description
The 4-H Tractor Project is a statewide program. It features curriculum
that will guide you through the project. For a copy contact your
County 4-H Office or order online at: Extension
Publications (For the Tractor Certification Manual click on this link). For additional curriculum possibilities, explore the National Directory of 4-H Materials and do a key word search for Tractor.
Tractors 1
What you can do in this project: learn and identify parts of the tractor; understand the basics of tractor maintenance; learn about different fuels and engine cooling systems; research different safety features and learn safety rules.
Grades: 3-4 (little or no experience)

Tractors 2
What you can do in this project: practice farm and tractor safety; understand the mechanics of engines; identify accessory equipment; learn the functions of different operational systems.
Grades: 5-6 (little or no experience)

Tractors 3
What you can do in this project: learn types of oil systems and fuel safety; learn how to hook on a PTO unit; learn tractor and machinery maintenance.
Grades: 7-9 (some prior experience)

Many counties hold local training for members and leaders in their favorite project areas, including tractors. Watch your county 4-H Family newsletter or contact your county Extension office for details
Wisconsin 4-H and Youth
Conference
If you’re in grades 8-10, check out the next Wisconsin
4-H and Youth Conference, scheduled each June at the UW-Madison
campus. The conference offers educational seminars in most areas
of 4-H. Contact your county Extension office for details.

County Fair
The county fair . . . what a great time it is! Every summer, families flock to county fairs to see the latest 4-H project exhibits. Exhibiting is a fun and educational way for youth to showcase their project work to judges and to the public. Judging materials are supported by Bill Shaw in memory of his wife, Shirley.

UW Center for Ag Safety and Health site with information on
youth certification. State certificates can be issued to youth under
the age of 14 and meet the requirements of WI Act 455. Youth must
be age 14 or older to receive a federal certificate.
