Grant Information and Applications

Who can apply?

Any Wisconsin 4- H club or group of 4-H clubs can apply for a grant.  We encourage 4-H members to fill out this application themselves, or in partnership with an adult.

What kinds of projects can get support?

The 4-H Community Service Grant seek to support 4-H clubs' community service projects that…

  • Are determined and led by youth, with support from adults;
  • Have a lasting, positive impact on the community; and,
  • Involve organizations and individuals outside of 4-H as partners.

Funding that goes directly to another organization as a charitable contribution is not available.

How do we apply?

  1. Identify a project that will benefit or improve your community.
  2. Determine what you will need in terms of money and other resources to do your project.
  3. Fill out the enclosed application and submit it to your county's 4-H Youth Development agent.

You can ask for $50 - $200 from the 4-H Community Service Grant program.  However, the grant cannot cover the entire cost of a project.  Your club will have to supplement the grant with club funds, ask for in-kind donations, hold a fundraiser, or look to other sources to get everything you need for your project. Please note that there is a total of $2,000 available this year for grants.

The citizenship curriculum, Public Adventures, can help groups plan and carry out their community work.  Request a copy from your county 4-H Youth Development Staff.

What is expected of us if we are awarded a grant?

  • Acknowledge the support of the 4-H Foundation and of We Energies in the publicity for your community service project.  Let people know that they've helped you!
  • Submit a final report to your county 4-H Youth Development agent and the 4-H Foundation, explaining how you've used the money and what you've accomplished, by September 1, 2010.  Include photos and any press releases with your report, please!
