DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION IS FEBRUARY 15, 2008
WHAT WE DO FUND
The Wisconsin 4-H Foundation awards program funding primarily in support of statewide 4-H programs and for Wisconsin 4-H youth participating in national 4-H events. The Wisconsin 4-H Foundation will give highest priority to program funding applications that include one or more of the following components:
- Leadership training opportunities for 4-H youth and adult volunteers.
- Youth involved in planning and implementing the program.
- Workforce preparation and career development opportunities for 4-H youth.
- 4-H programs that are designed to reach new audiences.
- Pilot 4-H programs requiring start-up funds. (Program summaries for these pilots will be available for use by all counties.)
WHAT WE DON’T FUND
- Cash awards.
- The purchase of local use capital equipment or hardware.
- Paying volunteer leaders or 4-H staff for services.
- Building projects or facility improvements (with the exception of the Upham Woods Outdoor Learning Center).
- County-specific programs unless they are new, innovative projects needing start-up funds that can be replicated in other counties.
HOW TO APPLY
- All program funding applications must be typed or word processed using the application form and signed by a county and/or state 4-H staff person.
- State 4-H teams attending a national contest will be awarded $600 per team to help cover the cost of their travel. (National contests held in Wisconsin will be awarded $300.) A program funding application is required.
- District funding in amounts of up to $300 is available for leadership training opportunities at the multi-county or district level for youth and/or adults. A program funding application is required.
Program funding recipients are asked to acknowledge the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation and donor partners in program materials and to send letters of thanks to donor partners.
Established in 1954 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation is dedicated to providing essential funding for 4-H programs, working in cooperation with state and county 4-H staff. Grant applications will be reviewed by the Grant Review Committee of the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation, with final approval by the Board of Directors at their meeting in April 2006.
The Wisconsin 4-H Foundation receives more
program funding applications than it can fund, and must decline a number
of requests for support for otherwise very worthy 4-H programs.
