Volunteers power the annual 4-H Horse Tack Sale

For years, hundreds of volunteers from counties across the state have made the annual 4-H Horse Tack Sale a galloping success.

The annual Wisconsin 4-H Horse Association Tack Sale at the Midwest Horse Fair is scheduled for April 21-23 on the lower level of the Alliant Energy Center. The Wisconsin 4-H Horse Program’s biggest fundraiser has taken place for nearly 15 years. Approximately 100 volunteers will be on hand each day to handle consigned tack (saddles, bridles, blankets, pads, etc.), along with other horse-related items, like show clothes, boots and model Breyer Horses. Tack sale participation fees are $5 per 23 items consigned and a 15% consignment fee on each sale.

In 2015, more than 2,000 volunteer hours were donated, helping to bring in nearly $40,000 to support the programs of the Wisconsin 4-H Horse Association. Those volunteer hours are valued near an additional $47,000, according to the most recent Independent Sector National Value of Volunteer Time. Those are impressive amounts, all thanks to dedicated and generous Wisconsin 4-H volunteers who help make the Tack Sale and many other events an example of success!
